Happy New Year! It’s now 2020 and the green beauty industry has grown so much since I first started my quest to green my beauty routine.
I first discovered that makeup made with clean ingredients actually existed back in 2012, and then I proceeded to go through loads of trial and error that blossomed into a love of blogging about it.
There weren’t many options at the time, for a “Cocoa Queen” like myself, so you can only imagine how glad I am to gaze over at my makeup collection and realize I have not one but a handful of options for foundation in my shade that are actually clean! So more natural/clean foundation reviews to come!
RMS Beauty’s Un Cover Up Cream Foundation (30ml/1 fl. Oz, $52) is described as a cream foundation that “uses the same skin loving qualities as the original “un” cover-up. This formula offers more coverage and works to create synergistic skin loving magic for a youthful dewy finish.”
I wear the shade #88 which I also wear in the Un Cover Up concealer. #88 is described as a “rich auburn”. It is more on the red side which is perfect for me since my undertone leans red.
And maaaan is this foundation dewy! There is nothing matte about this foundation and my initial reaction to this was just whoa. Typically I am not a dewy finish kind of gal because I get so oily throughout the day, so a semi- matte or outright matte foundation is typically my preference.
Although this foundation does have an extremely dewy finish it certainly gives off a youthful appearance to the skin. Sort of like how my skin was naturally back in my highschool days when I barely cleansed or moisturized. Sigh
It has a buttery whipped texture that feels really light on the skin. It melts into the skin and does not give your skin a textured or cakey look. My skin appears ultra smooth, hydrated, and glowy upon application.
It is very lightweight and a little goes a long way. I use a pea size amount of the product for all the areas on my face that I apply foundation where coverage is needed.
RMS Beauty’s Un Cover Up Cream Foundation is also extremely creamy so I’ve found it to be quite hydrating so I think it would work really well on dry skin too. It is really easy to blend and glides across my skin effortlessly. It goes on the skin opaque and sheers out to a much more natural finish once blended out.
I would say that this foundation offers medium coverage. I was still able to see my dark circles peeking through so I have been using this alongside their Un Cover Up concealer for added coverage in these areas.
As for the dewiness of this product, although really alarming for me at first, it was not much of an issue when paired with their Un Powder Up setting powder. I always set my foundations and concealers with a setting powder for longevity sake and it’s also a great way to keep me matte throughout the day. So as someone with oily skin I have not had an issue with becoming a slick mess while using this and this foundation lasts all day for me when set with powder.
Also, I know the fact that this product has coconut oil in it is off putting for many but I personally have not experienced milia when using this or their Un Cover Up concealer. Have any of you tried this or have decided against trying this because of the coconut oil in it?
Also, am I the only one who expects transferring with every natural foundation I use? I have never tried a natural foundation that has not, have any of you?
